About Me
Hi, I’m Tarryn!
I’m a Virtual Assistant specialising in supporting Australian tradies with the behind-the-scenes admin that keeps their businesses running smoothly.
My career in administration started when I was 16 with a Business Traineeship, and since then I’ve worked across a range of admin and customer service roles, building experience in finance, accounts, payroll and plenty more along the way.
In 2023, I decided to leave my full-time role in Development Assessment Support and start Tarryn Mortensen VA. I wanted to create a career that gave me more freedom, a better work-life balance and, most importantly, more time with my family.

I understand the tradie life
My husband, Ben, and I run our own earthmoving and tank cleaning business here in the Lockyer Valley, Queensland, so I know firsthand what goes into running a trade business.
Long days, paperwork after hours, weekends that aren't really weekends and a never-ending list of things that need doing — I get it.
That experience is a big part of why I love working with tradies. I understand that every business operates differently, and sometimes having someone reliable taking care of things behind the scenes can make a huge difference.
Over the years, I've supported my clients with everything from day-to-day administration and finance through to websites, social media and personal assistance. I'm also a ServiceM8 Partner and enjoy helping businesses get more out of the systems they use every day.
A little more about me
When I'm not working, you'll usually find me spending time with my family.
My husband, Ben, and I have a 9-year-old son, Quin, and we live on an acre-and-a-
half property in the Lockyer Valley with our three beautiful dogs and a few chickens.
I'm also one of those old-school emo millennials who never entirely grew out of it. Give me the music I listened to in the 2000s and I'm happy — apparently it wasn't a
phase after all.
I also have ADHD, which means my brain usually has approximately 47 tabs open at
once, three are playing music, and I have absolutely no idea where one of them is
coming from. Somehow, though, organising other people's businesses is one of the
things my brain happens to be very good at!
I love being outdoors, gardening, reading and colouring in, but one of my favourite
things to do is camp and travel. Whether we're heading away for a camping trip or
touring somewhere new, I love getting out and exploring more of this beautiful
country with my little family.
For me, starting my VA business was about creating more space for exactly those things — doing work I enjoy while having the flexibility to be present for the people and experiences that matter most.
